Description

This is one of the lowest mintage proof sets ever issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, with an official mintage of just 21,537.  The set was inspired by the 1953 Canadian circulation coins that originally hailed The Queen's coronation 50 years earlier.  (Princess Elizabeth acceded to the throne on February 6, 1952). Whereas her role as the Queen was immediate, her coronation took place the following year. The luxurious display case provides a dignified setting for each coin in this set. All coins in this set feature the 1953 effigy of The Queen - one of the most desirable sets ever. Double-dated "1953-2003".
