Tree of Hope:

Thousands of years ago, Canada's aboriginal people cherished the maple for its wondrous delicacy that hailed the warming days of spring. Centuries later, the Europeans treasured the maple for its wood that enabled them to build their homes and find comfort in the warmth of its flame.

Today, the challenges may have changed, but the maple's message remains the same. It is a beacon for Canada's newest generation of immigrants, inspiring them to believe in their dreams - that hope can be found in the shade of the maple tree.

Design

This pure silver coin was designed by Canadian artist Toan Nguyen (TN). It depicts three maple leaves and a privy mark with the year 2005 with the words "maple of hope" in Chinese. The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
